FAQ

What are bleachers made of?

Most bleachers are made of aluminum. It is an excellent material for indoor and outdoor bleachers as it is lightweight and resistant to rust. Nearly all companies manufacture bleacher foot and seat planks of extruded aluminum.

While some also use aluminum underneath to form the framing of their bleachers, the gold standard is steel angle iron framing.

Are fully aluminum tip n’ roll bleachers a good choice?

No. For most uses, fully aluminum bleachers are not a good fit. While aluminum works well for foot and seat planks, an aluminum understructure will crack over time as the system gets tipped up and down to move the bleachers. Thus, all-aluminum systems tend to have a shorter lifespan and come with a limited warranty. We recommend looking for bleachers that have a steel framework.

Why are some bleachers more expensive than others?

Materials and construction. The understructure construction is the most significant factor affecting the cost of bleachers. While some less expensive systems use aluminum extrusions and welds, these frames are less reliable. Thus, the warranty on these systems is typically only one to three years.

High-quality bleachers have steel angle iron frames with steel welds. Steel angle iron and steel welds are superior to aluminum angle extrusions and aluminum welds. Using more durable materials allows the manufacturer to put a lifetime warranty on the systems.

What kind of warranty can I expect on my bleachers?

A company’s warranty on their bleachers is tied directly to the materials used in manufacturing the product. Bleachers made with an extruded aluminum understructure usually only come with a short one to three-year warranty. However, bleachers with a steel angle iron understructure can carry a lifetime warranty, giving you peace of mind for many years.
